The oval Kernel
Due to the higher harvest the oval type has win recognition not only in the US but also in Argentina. It has today almost displaced the traditional round type.
Our most common varieties:
- Runner from the US
- Runner from Argentinia
- Bold from India
The round Kernel
In India and South Africa the round types are still cultivated because they don’t need man-made irrigation and they grow very fast.
The predominate round kernel is suited especially for sugar-coated sweets. It is also named Spanish Type.
Our common varieties:
- Java from India
- Harts, Kwarts, Norden etc. from South Africa
In India groundnuts can be harvested twice a year: round Java in the summer and oval Bolds in the winter.
